Charles Vincent Sonny Giesken, son of Andrew Vincent Giesken and Marie Frances Miellentz Giesken was born August 24, 1944 in San Diego, California and passed from this life Thursday, December 2, 2021 at VA Central Iowa Health Care System in Des Moines, Iowa at 77 years of age.
Charles received his education in Fairfax, Missouri where he graduated from Fairfax High School in 1962. Soon after graduating, Sonny joined the United States Marine Corps. He served his country during Vietnam and attained the rank of Lance Corporal.
He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Ated Giesken on December 1, 2000 at Chariton, Iowa.
Sonny worked his lifetime as a machinist and spent twenty-six years working for Johnson Machine Works in Chariton.
In his younger years he enjoyed old cars and trucks, history, spending time with his family and friends.
Those relatives who preceded Sonny in death were his father, Andrew Vincent Giesken, mother, Marie Frances Giesken, brother, Nick Giesken, brother, John Giesken, son, Andrew Vincent Giesken and grandson, Andrew Giesken.
Sonny leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Mary Ann Giesken of Osceola, IA, daughter, Christina Giesken of Cedar Rapids, IA, son, Charles (Victoria) Giesken, Jr. of Cedar Rapids, IA, daughter, Kerry Giesken of Chariton, IA, daughter, Kelly (Chad) Hickerson of Chariton, IA and son, Nick (Stephanie Ott) Giesken of Creston, IA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Tyler Deemer, Trevor TJ (Malaya) Deemer, Victoria (Jay) Stremel, Aerial Giesken, Alyssa Giesken, Gabby Giesken, Marissa Giesken, John Danner, Faith Hickerson, Jonas Hickerson, Ava Giesken; two great grandchildren Skye Deemer and Hayden Deemer; sister, Cecilia (Rich) Hintz of Madison, AL and his beloved dog, Cowgirl as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home, December 7, 2021 at 11:00 am with Father Chris Reising officiating.
The family will greet friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Kale Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery
