Charles Morgan

Leon

Charles (Charlie) Glenn Morgan, son of Margery Stiles Throckmorton, was born on January 23, 1936 in Leon, Iowa and passed away on November 18, 2021.

Charlie lived in Leon until he was 10 years old, then moved to Osceola, Iowa. He graduated in 1954 from Osceola High School where he participated in football and track. He attended Iowa State University for one year and then transferred to Simpson College.

In 1957, Charlie married his high school sweetheart, Katie Kerr. They were blessed with four children: twin daughters Jill and Jan, son JP, and daughter Joni.

Charlie always enjoyed giving back to his community and helping others. He worked to bring water to rural parts of the county, served seven years on the Clarke Community School Board, and was a lifetime member of Clarke County Cattlemen and Old Iron Club.

Charlie worked as a farmer for 45 years, owned a rock/fertilizer truck where he did custom hauling including gravel for I-35 and the area, and owned his own business Morgan and Son Sanitation for 43 years. Once he retired, Charlie enjoyed spending time with his children and  grandchildren, going on tractor rides all across Iowa, and mowing his very large yard. However, Charlie’s favorite time of year was Fourth of July. He would wake up at 5 in the morning to set up lawn chairs for his whole family to enjoy the Osceola parade in the same spot for over 50 years.

Charlie Morgan was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. To cherish his memory, he leaves daughters Jill and Jan, son JP (Kassy), and daughter Joni (Chris).

Grandchildren Macey (Jake and step-great-grandson Jett), Delaney (David), James, Emma (Aaron), Claire, and Charlie. Those preceding him in death were his wife, mother, in-laws Gordon and Theresa Kerr, brother-in-law Jim Kerr, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
