Lorimor

Derry Lee Decker, son of Elmer and Grace (Kirsch) Decker was born October 28, 1944 in Winterset, Iowa and passed from this life Sunday, October 2, 2022 at his home in Lorimor, Iowa at 77 years of age.

Lee attended school in Peru and graduated from East Union High School in Lorimor, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Ann Stump on June 12, 1964 in Winterset, Iowa and two children blessed this union, Kevin and Karen. Lee was a hardworking family man, he worked for the City of Lorimor as a maintenance worker and also served as town Marshall, in the 70s he worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad, in the 80s he worked for D.C. Construction before working for MacLander Manufacturing in Osceola, and Vanmark Corp in Creston. He retired from Rose Acres in Winterset after working as a house manager at the chicken farm.

Lee has lived in Lorimor for 58 years, serving on the Lorimor City Council and the Lorimor Fire Department. He enjoyed working on small engines and lawn mowers and many people brought their repairs to him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and collecting tractors. Lee was an animal lover and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels, and taking care of his dogs and cats, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Those relatives who preceded Lee in death were his parents, Elmer and Grace Decker, brothers, Eugene, Dean, Dale and Joe Decker, sister, Lois Dillinger, and mother-in-law & father-in-law, Dale & Dorothy Stump.

Lee leaves to cherish his memory; wife of 58 years, Carolyn Decker of Lorimor, IA, son, Kevin (Toni) Decker of Lorimor, IA, daughter, Karen (Troy) Tucker of Lorimor, IA, grandchildren, Jessi Decker, Brandon (Teryn) Decker, Cody (Alishia) Tucker, Casey (Gaile) Tucker, Cruz (Taylor) Tucker, great grandchildren Dominic, Kaydence, Konnor, Ady, Braxdyn, Cam, Lexi, Ruby, Harlow, and Tatum, sister, Marie Porter of Osceola, IA, brother, Jim Decker, brother, Everett Decker, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Lorimor, Iowa at 11:30 AM - Saturday - October 8, 2022 with Pastor Doug Benda officiating.

Family greeted friends from 10:00 until 11:30 prior to the funeral on Saturday at the church.

Interment followed in the Barney Cemetery.
