Arletta (Hopkins) Palmer born in rural Grand River in 1935 to Roy and Nola Hopkins, the 6th of 7th children.  She graduated from Grand River high school and then moved to Des Moines and worked for Bell Telephone (AT&T).  She married Frank Palmer in 1959 and they had two sons Rocky and Roger.

As the boys grew, they traveled throughout primarily the Midwest camping. She loved to plan the routes looking for interesting things to see and do along the way. When she and Frank retired, they sold everything and went on the road for 6 years in their 5th wheel camper. They had many adventures and made lifelong friends during those years.

Eventually the couple purchased a house in Murray near her family. They slowed down the travel and spent most of the winters with Roger in Florida. She eventually moved to assisted living in Homestead of Osceola then to Taylor hospice house in Des Moines. She passed away October 22nd.Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers, and their spouses; Hoyle, Carl (Lela), Don (Kathy), Sisters and spouses; Mildred (Dean Hutcheson), Marjorie (Marvin Black) and her husband Frank.Left to cherish her memory are Rocky (Carey), Roger (Dawn Ewing); grandchildren Angel Palmer, Rachel (Chris Conley), Rich Palmer, Corey Palmer; great grandchildren Marshall Palmer, Henry Conley and Callum Conley, Step grandchildren Rachel Sage, Corey Sage (Brandi) and many extended family and friends.Any donations will be given to the Taylor Hospice House at 3401 E. Douglas Ave Des Moines, Iowa 50317.Cremation was entrusted to Kale Funeral home in Osceola and a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.
