Gary Lee Parson, son of Rex Parson Jr. and Anna Mae (Hook) Parson was born March 29, 1953 in Corydon, Iowa and passed from this life, suddenly, Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at the Harrison County Memorial Hospital in Bethany MO at the age of 69 years of age.
Gary grew up in Garden Grove and graduated from Morman Trail High School with the class of 1972.Gary was united in marriage to Karen Bee Poush on April 14, 1984 in Leon, Iowa.Gary and Karen have lived in Woodburn for over 35 years.Gary was a very active member of the Woodburn Community, he served on the Woodburn Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years, and was a member of the Woodburn City Council for several years.Gary was a member of the Woodburn Christian Church, serving as a deacon for over 35 years and board of trustees for over 30 years.He was a member of the Osceola Masonic Lodge #77, AF & AM.
Gary worked for Jimmy Dean in Osceola before becoming a truck driver for several companies including NIM, McFarland and currently Hite.He enjoyed his mini farm and the home he built himself where he had many animals and enjoyed being outdoors.Gary was a loving and caring family man who will be missed by many.
Those relatives who preceded Gary in death were his parents, Anna Mae and Rex Parson Jr., sisters, Kathy Stevens, and Connie Huston, and brother, Jeff Parson.
Gary leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Karen Parson of Woodburn, IA, daughter, Joy (Lee) Durham of Woodburn, IA, daughter, Joey (Chris) Becker of Antioch, CA, daughter, Sarah J Parson of Council Bluffs, IA, son, Justin (Beth) Parson of Virginia, son, Joshua Parson of Rockford, IL, son, Mike Parson of Des Moines, IA, son, John Parson, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother, Harold (Debbie) Parson of Clinton, IL, sister, Cindy Earls of Creston, IA, many nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and many friends.
A Celebration of His Life will be held at the Woodburn Fire Station in Woodburn, Iowa on Saturday November 19, 2022 from 1:00 until 4:00.
Memorial contributions may be directed to his family for a fitting tribute to be decided at a later date.
