Vernon Binning

Osceola

Floyd Vernon Binning , son of Vern and Gladys (Price) Binning was born April 7, 1924 at the family home South of Van Wert, Iowa,  and passed from this life Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola, Iowa at 98 years of age.

Vernon grew up on the farm and attended schools in Van Wert, he enjoyed farming and helping his parents.  Vernon was united in marriage to Jessie Glendola Offield on May 26, 1945 in Leon, Iowa and were blessed with two sons, Mike and Mark.  Vernon farmed and raised his sons on the farm.  He also worked selling cars in both Leon and Osceola, which was a great joy.  He was a very social person and enjoyed meeting new friends where ever he went.  Vernon and Glendola enjoyed traveling on his motorcycle, they wintered in Florida, Texas and Arizona.  He enjoyed playing cards and golfing.  Vernon was an active member of the Osceola United Methodist Church.  He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.

Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Glendola and parents, Vern and Gladys Binning.  

He leaves to cherish his memory,  son, Mike (K.J.) Binning of Seoul, South  Korea, son, Mark (Vickie ) Binning of Osceola, IA, grandson, Lance (Molly) Binning of Gwynn Oak, MD, granddaughter, Amanda Gonzales of Columbia, MD, granddaughter, Christine (Mark) Baker of Ames, IA, great-grandchildren, Kenny, Max and Isaac Baker, Josh, and Olivia Binning, Carmilo and Ava Gonzales, companion and special friend, Kitty Baker of Osceola, IA as well as other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Services were held at Kale Funeral Home Osceola, Tuesday December 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Amy Johnson officiating.

Vernon’s family greeted friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Tuesday, prior to the services at Kale Funeral Home.

Interment of his cremains will be in the Van Wert Cemetery at a later date.
