Twyla Gochanour

Twyla Marie Gochanour, formerly of Weldon, Iowa, died of congestive heart failure at Mercy One - Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City on December 21, 2022.

She was born in Corydon (Lucas County), Iowa on March 14, 1928, to Albert Robert and Lillie Fern (Grove) Burdess.  Twyla had 5 sisters and 8 brothers:  Beverly Stillian (Everett), Doris Wineland (Larry), Mary Francis Burdess, Lyla Jean Simmons (Ken), Judy Welch (Dennis), Warren (Dollie), Dean (Carol), Lyle Gilbert (Barb),  Glenn (Mary),  Lester (Dorothy), Marvin Franklin (Mary), John (Beverly), and Norman (Sharon).  

Twyla married Dale Milroy Gochanour in Omaha on September 21, 1947.  They had two daughters, Karon Kae and Tami Marie.Twyla and Dale loved to travel, spend time with their families and play Pinochle. While Twyla was the book keeper for Evandale Construction, she loved being a homemaker.  She especially loved decorating for Christmas and hosting her family for Thanksgiving.   Twyla loved to garden, cook, sew. Creating a variety of stuffed animals and beautiful quilts as gifts for her family.  They always had dogs, and especially loved dachshunds.  She had a huge smile when children visited her and she especially loved to rock babies on her lap.  She cherished the weeks every summer that her Grandchildren would spend at the farm in Weldon, learning many new things.

Survived by daughters Karon (son in law William Haun) and Tami (son in law Dean Douglass), Karon’s children Andrew Haun and Katie Schuring (Bret), Katie’s children Elliot Ryan, Liam Paul, and Olivia Katherine, and Tami’s children Garrett Dale Farlow, Brandi Kae Gochanour, and Ashley Lynn Grant (Charles), Brandi’s children Hally and Rorey, and Ashley’s children Parker and Cailin.

Visitation will be from 10 until 11 and funeral at 11AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola.

Interment will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola.
