Virginia (Ginny) Mae (Jones) DeBerg, 89, of Osceola died on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Clarke County Hospital.
She was born on December 10, 1933, in Chariton Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Marie (Clingman) Jones. The family lived in Davenport Iowa before settling in Bristow Iowa.
Ginny met her one and only Keith DeBerg at Bristow High School her senior year. They married in 1953. They lived in Colorado Springs during Keith’s time in the army and settled in Waterloo Iowa. They had two daughters Deb and Lisa.
Ginny was a fun-loving lively soul and enjoyed taking part time jobs. She worked in department stores in the 50′s, in busy main offices, as a bank teller, and many retail positions at the mall. Her dedication was to being a good wife and mother.
The family moved many times with Ginny coordinating moves to Souix City, IA, Omaha NE, Papillion NE and Hereford TX before settling in Osceola in 1976. She bought Skirt and Shirt on the Osceola square and enjoyed many years as a business owner.
Ginny and Keith were always together. They were fabulous dancers and loved live music. They were at the Winter Dance Party in Clear Lake IA the day the music died in 1959. In later years they enjoyed the Eagles on Friday nights and “the boat” on Saturdays.
Keith preceded his bride of 68 years by one year. Ginny is survived by daughters Deb DeBerg of Waukee, IA, and Lisa (Kim) Allyn of Santa Cruz, CA, granddaughter Ashley (Tim) Harles of Oroville, CA great grandchildren Arianna, Jordyn, Makennah and Brody as well as loyal family friends Randy and Jeanie Sort, Bruce and Paula McClaflin and Bud Jones, friends to the end.
Ginny requested no service and was ready to join Keith who promised to wait for her one year ago. She recently shared a toast so raise your glass and think of Ginny’s… “Here’s to you and here’s to me, hope we never disagree but if we do the hell with you, here’s to me!”
