Russell Allen Nauman (Allen), 80, of Osceola, Iowa passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023.
Russell was born on May 30, 1942, to Carl Macon and Sylvia Marie (Beasley) Nauman in Leon, Iowa. He grew up on his parents farm and loved his horses. He later lived in Des Moines, Johnston and then Osceola. He recently moved to Chariton and lived with his daughter Bev.
Russell could be a bit mischievous, when he was young, he and some friends snuck chickens into a movie theater balcony and let them go in front of the screen. Another time, they stole a watermelon truck and proceeded to hand out free watermelon until they were caught. One night, the town cop fell asleep in his car, Russ and his friends let the air out of all the tires on the cop car.
Russell was blessed with three children: Beverly, Chad and Lisa. In his younger years, he enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, waterskiing, horseshoes, golfing, and motorcycle trips. He loved doing things outdoors. He and Lisa took a trip to Alaska to visit his sister, Marla and a cruise to the Bahamas a few years ago with others from Lakeside.
Russell worked on the Des Moines Police Department for 4 years before working for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office where he would later retire.
After retiring from the Sheriff’s office, he worked as a security guard at Haymarket Mall and Blue Cross Blue Shield. He later moved in with his parents to care for them for the remainder of their lives.
Russell was great at pool and loved golf, he enjoyed playing card games and dice games and recently even learned to play the Wii. He really enjoyed going to the casino, and actually lived in the campground at Lakeside in Osceola for the past 10 years. He will always be known for the hugs he gave out to everyone.
Russell will be dearly missed by his daughters, Bev (Rick) Carlo and Lisa Nauman; grandchildren: Garry (Jennifer) Waldon Jr., Crystal (Chris) Vogel, Cody (Brandee) Waldon, and Kaden Nauman; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Jim Nauman; sisters, Marla (Steve) Willis and Carla Sabin; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Sylvia Nauman; son, Chad Nauman; and brother-in-law, Dennis Sabin.

His daughters would like his friends and family to know that he cherished each of you and spoke often of the fond memories he had.
