Edward “Ed” Adcock

Osceola

Edward John Adcock son of John Kenneth Adcock and Gladys Arlene (Deney) Adcock, was born on January 14, 1946, in Melrose Park, Illinois and passed away on June 30, 2023, at his residence at the age of 77.

Ed grew up in Chariton, 14 and attended the Chariton Schools. He moved to Osceola in 1965. On May 5, 1972, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Kay Brammer at the Murray Church of Christ and one daughter blessed this union.

He worked for EI Sargent’s and Martin Marietta as a heavy equipment operator until 1995. He then started his own business “Adcock’s Business Construction” doing concrete flat work mostly in the Des Moines area until he retired in 2008. He also co-owned Journeyman’s Homebuilders for a few years, building new homes in and around the Des Moines area.

Ed has been a member of the LifePoint Assembly of God Church where he helped to add on the addition in 1995. He also helped to build and co-pastor the Osceola Full Gospel church. He currently was an active member of the Van Wert Assembly of God church.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Adcock.

Ed is survived by his wife Kathy of Osceola, his children, Debbie Adcock of Osceola, Janee Umbarger of Independence Missouri, bonus daughter Andrea (Quinten) Hingeley of Diagonal, brother Howard (Betty) of Newton, sisters Sheila Nelson of Altoona, Carol (Mike) Stites of Altoona, (Special grandchild) MacKenzie Slykhuis of Osceola, 5 grandchildren Arnanda (Ty) Claibourn of Neodesha, Kansas, Andrew (Kelli) of Ferndale, Washington, Scott Robertson of Parsons, Kansas, Breanna Umbarger of Miami, Oklahoma, Caitlyn Umbarger of Independence, Missouri, 4 great grandchildren Ella Green, Carter Green, Jase Green and Vada Claibourn of Neodesha, Kansas, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ed’s family will greet friends from 2:00 until 4:00 on Sunday afternoon, July 9, 2023 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at LifePoint Church in Osceola on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Chuck DeVos officiating. A live stream of the service will be available at www.kalefuneralhome.com on Ed’s tribute wall beginning at 10:00 AM on Monday. Interment will be in the Chariton Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Monday.
