Art Pritchard

Arthur Glenn Pritchard, son of Glenn Pritchard and Hazel Marie Irving Pritchard, was born on July 10, 1940, in Decatur County, Iowa, and passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Southern Hills Specialty Care at the age of 84.

Art completed his education at Van Wert High School. He married Evelyn Louise Kerns on September 5, 1961, in Osceola, Iowa, and together they were blessed with two children, Arthur and Mary.

Art dedicated forty years of his career as a Core-Maker at Fansteel Wellman Dynamics, retiring in 2005. He was also a little league coach for many years, demonstrating his commitment to the community and youth sports.

A passionate volunteer, Art was recognized by Chamber/Main Street as their 2007 “Volunteer of the Year.” He was honored at a state-level banquet in Des Moines for his contributions. Art was instrumental in setting up Christmas lights every year in the Clarke County Courtyard and was actively involved with the Osceola 4th of July Committee as well as many various church activities. He loved walking his dogs and was an avid fan of the Yankees and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Art is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Marie Pritchard; father, Glenn Pritchard; brother, Robert Lee Pritchard; father-in-law, Herman Kerns; and mother-in-law, Gladys Kerns.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Pritchard of Osceola, IA; son, Arthur H. (Leslie) Pritchard of Osceola, IA; daughter, Mary (Bill) Lafferty of Des Moines, IA; brother, Roger (Judy) Pritchard of Ames, IA; grandchildren, Adam (Sarah) Pritchard of Blue Springs, MO, Jordan Pritchard of Osceola, IA, Aaron Lafferty of Des Moines, IA, Austin Lafferty of Des Moines, IA, and Colton Pritchard of Osceola, IA; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Mia, Bane, Evelyn, Ian, Abbie, Cora, and Ivy. He is also remembered by other relatives and many friends.

Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Danny McNeal officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery. A live stream of the service will be available on Arthur’s tribute wall at www.kalefuneralhome.com beginning at 2:00 pm on Friday. The Family encourages anyone that would like to wear a favorite sports team shirt to feel free to wear it in honor of Art’s love of sports.
