Ronald Lloyd Rumley, age 90, of Osceola, Iowa, the son of Leroy “Roy” and Helen Rose (Snyder) Rumley, was born October 13, 1934, in Decatur County, Iowa. He passed from this life on December 30, 2024, at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa.
Ron grew up in Leon, Iowa and graduated with honors from Leon High School in 1952. He entered the United States Army on April 21, 1954, serving during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge on April 3, 1956, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri and married Carolyn Mabry. She had a daughter, Linda, and together they were blessed with son, David.
Ron worked at the Fuller Brush Company before starting his own business, Mr 1st Aid / Heart of America 1st Aid. On June 18, 1995, in Kansas City, Missouri, he married Linda Joleen Cole. They made their home in Kansas City until they moved to a farm outside of Van Wert, Iowa. There they enjoyed the country life, especially the animals, for 22 years. Ron and Linda enjoyed traveling and just being together. In 2016, after Linda’s death on July 8, 2015, Ron moved to Osceola, Iowa.
In his younger years, Ron enjoyed roller skating at the Winwood Roller Rink in Kansas City with Dave and also being his Boy Scout leader for Troop 180. Ron loved his time on the farm tinkering, farming, and fishing. He also enjoyed family gun shooting competitions against Dave and Kim. Lately, he enjoyed meals at the Family Table Restaurant in Osceola and visiting with the staff, who took great care of him. He was a member of the Garden Grove American Legion.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Linda Rumley; and brothers, Ray, Jim, and Eugene Rumley. Survivors include his children, Linda Schultz of Osceola, Iowa and Dave and Kim Rumley of Kansas City, Missouri; granddaughters, Michelle Rumley and Rachel Rumley-LeGrand, both of McKinney, Texas; great grandchildren, Epyk, Seryph, and Emryn LeGrand; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Slade - O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025. Burial will follow in the Garden Grove Cemetery, Garden Grove, Iowa.
