Vicki Sue Asmus

May 28, 1951 – January 20, 2025

Vicki Sue Asmus, beloved daughter of Hylvin and Edith (Williams) Harris, was born on May 28, 1951, in Osceola, Iowa. She entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on January 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and faith at WestView Care Center in Indianola.

Vicki grew up in New Virginia, Iowa, and graduated from Interstate 35 High School in 1969. Afterward, she attended John F. Kennedy College in Wahoo, Nebraska. However, her life took a beautiful turn when she fell in love with Jim Asmus. The two were married in April 1970 and began their journey together on a farm in Osceola, where they welcomed three children. For many years, Vicki devoted herself to her family as a homemaker, later transitioning into various roles in the workforce until her retirement in 2019.

A dedicated member of LifePoint Assembly of God, Vicki found joy and purpose in her faith and church community. She could be found there whenever services were happening, faithfully serving and connecting with others. Outside of church, she cherished simple pleasures—knitting, reading, and staying connected with loved ones through heartfelt letters and meaningful phone calls. Vicki was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi, where she enjoyed fellowship and community involvement.

Vicki was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim; her parents, Hylvin and Edith; brothers Doyle, Gene, Keith “Tinker,” and Charles “Brownie”; and sisters Delores, Eugenia, and Virginia.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories through her children: Jeff (Tina) Asmus of Lakemoor, IL; Joel (Angela) Asmus of Fishers, IN; and Morgan (Andrew) Dutler of West Des Moines, IA; her grandchildren: Zachary, Cody, Lillianna, Isabella, Evelyn, and Quincy; her sisters Elaine (LaVerne) Bullard and Carolyn Goodrich; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 15th, at LifePoint Assembly of God in Osceola, Iowa, with Reverend Chuck DeVos officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be held immediately afterward.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to LifePoint Assembly of God.

Vicki’s gentle spirit, steadfast faith, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
