No citations were reported in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Jefferson and Fillmore Streets on Sept. 24.

According to an Osceola police report, a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 16-year-old was driving southbound on Fillmore St. As she approached the intersection of Fillmore and Jefferson Streets, she could not see east due to the sun.

At the same time, a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 15-year-old was traveling west on W. Jefferson St. She had already entered the intersection at Jefferson and Fillmore, prior to the 16-year-old arriving at the intersection. As the 15-year-old was crossing the northbound traffic side of Fillmore and entered the southbound side, the 16-year-old entered the intersection, the front of her vehicle colliding with the front middle passenger side of the other, causing the airbags in the 16-year-old’s vehicle to deploy, which caused minor injuries to the driver and a 15-year-old passenger. The occupants of the 2016 Chevrolet were uninjured. All parties were transported to the Clarke County Clinic by their respective parents.

Damage is estimated at $7,000 to the 2017 Chevrolet and $1,500 to the 2016 Chevrolet.
