Clarke Volleyball played a triangular against Central Decatur Sep. 2. Clarke lost the first game 16-25 and second game 15-25.
“We are working on developing team chemistry,” said Clarke Head Coach Kimberly Adams. “We just weren’t working well as a team that day.”
As they work on teamwork they need all they players to work toward a singular goal. In practice, to do this, they do a lot of team drills and switch up girls to see what group works the best together.
“I have quite a few back row players so we’re still trying to see who talks the most and who kind of steps up and takes charge of the court,” said Adams.
The two middle hitters are out due to injuries so that has caused a need for even more teamwork and team communication during the games.
There are four players who get a lot of playing minutes who have never played varsity before, contributing to the need to work on bringing the group together as a team.
“Merging those upper classmen with the sophomores and figuring out how each other work and how it runs, we have to figure out team chemistry that way,” said Adams.
In preparation for the Albia game that they played Tuesday night they worked on their defense a lot. They worked on being ready to move defensively, blocks and getting the ball down in the front row as an aggressive attack.
