The Clarke Volleyball Team had a Fight Cancer night during the volleyball season. There was a silent auction- 35 items were donated and $1,265 was raised for the Pink Tractor Foundation.
The Pink Tractor Foundation was established in 2014 by the Tom Brommel Family. The Brommel family has been greatly impacted by cancer with Tom’s wife Shirley dying of colon cancer in 1996, and his daughters Lori and Jolene being diagnosed with breast cancer (both at age 44).
The idea for the Foundation started after the family’s Country Carnival, which was originally planned to raise money for family members who participate in the Komen 3-Day/60 Mile walk, was such a great success. Now, the funds raised at the Country Carnival are used not only to support the walkers, but more importantly, are also used to financially assist those in the community that are going through any type of cancer. The Foundation has given out over $330,000 to families dealing with a cancer diagnosis. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations received are tax deductible.
