Clarke volleyball underway

Clarke volleyball started off their season with the Clarke Varsity Volleyball Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 27. They won four of five matches against Des Moines Lincoln, Saydel, East Union, and Chariton; they lost their match against Ballard bringing them to 4-1.

“I am so proud of the girls’ effort, tenacity and perseverance in the matches on Saturday,” said volunteer head coach Joni Readout. “We stayed confident and in control with our serving and hitting.”

The team had practiced their offense coverage over the past week, and efforts of which paid off. Readout said they will continue to work on moving quickly to the ball, efficient hitting, and staying aggressive with the ball while keeping it in the court.

The Lady Indians’ are up against Central Decatur at Centerville on Sept. 1, and at home against Albia on Sept. 6.
