Murray volleyball team attended a tournament at Wayne on Saturday, winning one of three games.
The first game against East Union saw the Lady Eagles win 21-17 and 21-14. Murray had a 76.7% serve rate (23-30), with Mayrssa McMurry and Maliya Berry getting 100% each (5-5 and 4-4 respectively). Leah Frederick had two aces, and McMurry had one. Offensively, there were 47 attacks (leaders were McMurry with 12, Berry with 11 and Madison Henrichs with 10), 11 kills and nine offense assists. On defense, the Lady Mustangs had 14 digs.
The second game against Central Decatur ended 2-0 in Murray’s favor, 21-13, 23-21. The serve success rate was 87.1%, and Berry, Henrichs and Aylah Miller reaching 100.0%; Frederick had five aces and Henrichs one. Henrichs led the team with 17 offensive attacks with nine kills, followed by Berry with 12 attacks and five kills.
The final game of the tournament for Murray was against Mormon Trail, which ended 2-0 to Mormon Trail (21-9, 21-13). This round saw a 77.3% serve rate, with Rilea Eckels, Frederick and Miller. Mallory Page had two aces, and Henrichs one. The offense had 23 attacks with two kills.
An earlier game in the week against Mount Ayr ended 3-0 in favor of Mount Ayr (9-25, 11-25, 19-25).
The Lady Mustangs had no games this week, but will be at Southeast Warren on Oct. 21 for the first round of Class 1A Region 1 play.
