Clarke, Murray basketball recap

Icy weather canceled ball games Friday or both Murray and Clarke, with Murray and Clarke girls having just one game each last week, and Clarke boys with two.

Clarke

At Carlisle last Monday, the boys lost 71-43 to the Wildcats. Ryan Diehl scored 10 of the Indians’ points. Peyton Lynn had nine, Brock Nall eight, DeVante Caldwell five, Brock Watson and Deegan Neese four and Eli Fry three. Diehl had two of the team’s 3-point shots, with Lynn, Fry and Caldwell having one each. The team had 34 total rebounds - 12 offensive and 22 defensive, with Denilson Deleon Elias having six total.

At Knoxville last Tuesday, the Indians fell 72-41 to the Panthers. Diehl was the high scorer again with 10 points, with Lynn and Nall picking up nine, five from Deleon Elias, four from Logan Gracey and two each from Watson and Jordyn Deleon Elias. The Indians had a 36.6% shooting average from the field. In 3-points, they had seven of 14 successful - three from Lynn, two from Diehl, one from Nall and one from Denilson Deleon Elias.

The Lady Indians at Knoxville fell 31-37, with the Lady Panthers pulling away in the last few minutes of game play. Maisy McCoy scored 19 points in the contest, including three, three-point shots. Reagan Fry scored five points, Kya Thornton four, Miah Graves two and Reese Shaw one. The Lady Indians had 33 overall rebounds, with eight offensive and 25 defensive; Shaw had 10 total rebounds.

The losses move the boys team to 0-5, and the girls to 0-4 as of last week.

Murray

At Murray last Tuesday, the Mustangs hosted the Melcher-Dallas Saints.

The girls lost their game 55-34, with Melcher-Dallas pulling away 12-5 in the first quarter, and then 29-8 by halftime. Maliya Berry scored nine points in the contest, with Leah Frederick and Aylah Miller scoring eight each. Keirsten Klein picked up seven, Mallory Page and Karina Romero one each. The Lady Mustangs had a 20.4% score average from the field. Klein led rebounds with eight total, followed by Addie Eckels with seven.

The boys won their game 87-54, with an early 25-13 lead in the first quarter that moved to a 46-27 lead going into halftime. Caden Page was the high scorer for the game, with 34 points, including the team’s six, three-point shots. Austin Peterson, AJ Clarke and Jacob Keller had double-digit points with 15, 14 and 12 respectively. The team had a 46.2% shooting average from the floor for two-point shots.

Peterson led in rebounds with 12 of the team’s total 53 - 18 offensive and 35 defensive - and Clarke picked up 10. Page had nine assists and Keller with seven.

Both teams stand at 2-2 at the end of last week.
