OSCEOLA -- Clarke basketball was at home Jan. 14 with the Indians securing their third win of the season over the Cardinal Comets.
The Indians had an early lead in the game, ending the first quarter 26-13 in their favor. While the Comets managed to put up two more points than the Indians in the second, it still left them trailing 42-31 going into halftime, with the Indians carrying away the game for the win.
Brock Watson scored 35 points in the contest, going nine for 13 at the free throw line. Peyton Lynn and Ryan Diehl broke double-digit points with 11 and 10 respectively. Lynn, Diehl, Jordyn Deleon Elias and Tate Shriver each had one 3-point shot. Overall, the Indians had a 35% shooting percentage on two-points.
On defense, Watson racked 20 total rebounds - eight offensive and 12 defensive. Lynn had seven rebounds and Nash Bishop six. Diehl had five assists.

CHARITON -- On the road Jan. 17 at Chariton, the Indians fell by eight points, 70-62 to the Chargers. The first quarter saw close scoring with Chariton only up by one, before they surged ahead by 12 going into the half. Clarke rallied in the second half, but not enough to overcome their opponent.
Watson had another high scoring game with 29 points, including three, three-points and four for six at the free throw line. Diehl scored 11 points with three, three-point shots. The team had a 31.1% field goal percentage.
Watson led on rebounds with 16 total - six offensive and 10 defensive, followed by Bishop with eight. Bishop put up six of the team’s 15 assists, with Diehl having five. Bishop also numbered four steals.
Friday’s loss moved the Indians’ record to 3-9.
