Clarke boys basketball moves to 3-12

OSCEOLA -- Clarke hosted Knoxville Jan. 21 in a double-header match that led to losses for both teams.

On the boys side, they fell 90-35 to the Panthers, who commanded an early lead with a 46-18 score at halftime. Brock Watson banked 11 points in the contest. Brock Nall came in as the second highest scorer with six points, Ryan Diehl and Logan Gracey each had four, Deegan Neese three, Nash Bishop, Eli Fry and Jordyn Deleon Elias two and Peyton Lynn one; Nall and Neese each had one 3-point shot. Overall, the Indians had a 31.8% field goal range, and went five for 10 at the free throw line.

CLARINDA -- On the road Jan. 23 at Clarinda, the Clarke Indians fell 82-50. Halftime saw the Cardinals ahead 39-30, before putting up another 43 in the last two quarters to the Indians’ 20.

Watson scored 16 points with three three’s for the only double-digit points of the night. Bishop had seven points, Lynn and Jordyn Deleon Elias six, Gracey five, Diehl and Denilson Deleon Elias four and Kenni Deleon Elias two. With 19 of 64 successful two-point shots, Clarke had a 29.7% field goal percentage.

Watson had 12 total rebounds with 11 defensive and one offensive, and Nall picked up seven total - four offensive and three defensive. Jordyn Deleon Elias picked up six assists, and Diehl had five blocks.

OSCEOLA -- At home on Friday, the Indians fell to the Albia Blue Demons 80-43. Albia put up 22 points in the first quarter to Clarke’s nine and 23 in the second to Clarke’s eight to start halftime 45-17. Clarke came close in scoring in the third with 17 points to their opponent’s 22, and nine to 13 in the fourth.

Diehl scored the most with 13 points and two three-pointers. Watson had 11 points, Lynn eight with two three-points, Jordyn Deleon Elias four, Kenni Deleon Elias three and two each to Gracey and Nall.

On the floor, Watson had six rebounds and steals. Jordyn Deleon Elias had five rebounds and Fry and Lynn four each.

The loss moves the Indians to xx-xx.
