Clarke girls move to 2-12

OSCEOLA -- The Clarke girls basketball team started their week with a 46-32 loss at home against Knoxville Jan. 21. The Knoxville Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Indians 12-3 in the first quarter, and despite close point totals in the remaining three quarters, Knoxville maintained their lead for the win.

Reese Shaw scored 17 of the Indian’s points, with 12 of those points coming from three’s. Reagan Fry added nine points, and Maisy McCoy and Miah Graves three each. McCoy and Graves both had one three point shot each. Shaw logged 10 total rebounds - four offensive and six defensive, and had three blocks. Kya Thornton had five steals of the team’s 11.

CLARINDA -- At Clarinda Jan. 23, the Indians fell to the Cardinals 68-14. Scoring just one point to Clarinda’s 28 in the first quarter, the home team maintained their large lead over the visitors for their second-lowest scoring game of the season.

Fry, Graves, McCoy and Sara Fry had three points each, and Thornton added two. Thornton lead with six rebounds, five steals and three assists.

Shaw was the game’s high scorer with 12, all of which came from three point shots. Reagan Fry had 12 total rebounds - three offensive and nine defensive, and Thornton came in with eight - two offensive and six defensive.
