Clarke wrestling attends John J. Harris Tournament

Clarke wrestlers placed 20th at the John J Harris Tournament in Corning on Saturday with 27 team points. Atlantic took first with 220 points, Winterset second with 200.5 points and Riverside, Oakland third with 157 points. Individually, Urijah Fry took fifth in the 150-class.

Angel Gomez-Perez received a bye in the championship round one. In round two, he lost by fall at 3:04 to Izic Zarate (Red Oak). Gomez-Perez won by fall over Grant Gould (Bedford) at 1:19 in consolation round one. Round two was won by Gomez-Perez in a fall over Colt Key (Creston) at 0:39. He lost by fall to Joseph Schreiber (Washington) in consolation round three at 1:40.

He won by 10-4 decision over Jayden Harter (Atlantic) in the quarterfinal, and lost to Dylan Stein (Lenox) in the semifinal by 8-3 decision. Consolation round four went to Austin Henderson (Wayne, Corydon) by fall over Fry at 1:54. Fry won by fall over Harter in the fifth place match at 1:42.
